Hike to Mount Battie on Monday Sept 22nd 2008

Four homeschooling families, including us, hiked up the wooded path to Mount Battie on Monday. Although it was a nice hike, it was challenging for me because Makana wanted to be carried much of the way up and down.

Michelle was so kind to carry our backpack, in spite of getting a little asthmatic on the way up. Katie and Michelle's daughter Jewel took turns carrying Jewel's backpack, but I still felt bad Michelle had ours, although I was so appreciative!!

Li and Katie seemed to have tons of energy on the way up. I hardly saw Li as he was in front of the troup and I usually was in the back.

When we got towards the end of the trail, Michelle and I opted to go to the top up the paved road and the rest of the kids and parents went through the woods.

Katie arrived at the top not feeling well. She said she could not walk straight and was thirsty, hungry and dizzy. After some rest, food and drink she said she felt better.

We all walked down the paved road as it was easier and we were all tired. Some parents had other committments to attend to as well.

All in all, it was a great hike! But I learned that when I am this pregnant and Makana still needs to be carried, I better make my hikes alot shorter or wait until another time when Jim can come!
