Hike to Bald Mountain!

Early evening Jim, Li, Makana, and I hiked to Bald Mountain in Lincolnville. Katie opted to hang out at Keely's as she wasn't interested in hiking whatsoever.

(Ooooh, just felt the baby kick! To think I had been worried before about him/her not moving. Now he/she moves alot!)

Was a good hike - somewhat strenuous, some parts easy going, mostly very wide paths. A thunderstorm loomed in the distance almost the whole time we hiked. We noticed the approaching storm on the way there and heard the distant rumbling shortly after we began hiking. We thought the hike would be fairly short, so we decided to give it a go knowing we could always turn back if the weather seemed to get worse.

Well, the hike was a little longer than we thought. Makana noticed mushrooms and holes where creatures surely lived along the way. Li noticed that the path we were on was marked with blue paint and kept us on course. One rock was especially slippery as it was damp and mostly smooth.

When we finally arrived at the summit, we were above the fog layer coming in along the coast! It was really neat! Li was so excited and picked up more energy just before we got to the top! We could see Camden harbor and many islands lying east of the fog bank. The storm loomed toward our west and we took just a few photos and a quick video and went right down. It turned out that the storm went north of us, so we were fine. We were so glad we did this hike! And it was a nice workout for all of us too -although Makana got lots of piggy backs and rides much of the time..mostly on Jim. He's still "Packhorse Wolf," whether it is from carrying luggage, other things or children!! :) And I love him!
