I Love My Wolf!

I hear the jeep going by and just looked out the sliding glass doors to watch him go. Wolf just left for work. I just wanted to write how flooded I am with loving thoughts of him! I love him so much!

I feel a little sad that he is going off to work, but know that is how we support ourselves right now (I'm sending out the vibe for us all to be able to work together at something we love!). How lucky I am to live and be with someone whom I love so very much and to feel loved by him too! :) :) :) :)

Things I Appreciate About Li

I have been meaning to write this:

I love how Li calls Bazooka bubble gum "Bamzooka!" It cracks me up! I actually have informed him (without judgement) that how it is typically pronounced (just so he knows), but he prefers to continue to call it Bamzooka. So it is! In our house anyway! :)

Tonight I was upstairs with Makana while she was pooping and simultaneously reading out loud to herself (as best as she can recall in her own words) The Cat In The Hat. Li was downstairs and had put an Amy's Spinach Pizza in the oven and had put leftover ravioli in a glass bowl and nuked it. I thought I had smelled something in the oven and when I thought so the second time I asked Katie to check it for me (I was still upstairs with Makana). Li then announced that he had surprised us with dinner! When I came downstairs, he said that he knows I make dinner for everyone all the time and that he wanted to do it for us tonight. SO SWEET! He was so excited making dinner for us all and said that if he remembers, he will do it tomorrow night too! Bless that big heart of his!

Appreciative Thoughts of the Day

Makana came into the kitchen bringing two cups from the table. The look in her eyes was so bright as she felt so good helping out. (She really enjoys doing whatever we do, esp helping with whatever we are doing. She did this on her own.)

Makana often wakes up, realizes it is daytime and declares, "It's daylight out! It's time to get up." She then usually goes back to sleep for a little longer and gets up all bright-eyed and enthusiastic to start the day. It is so joyful to see her so happy and eager. Just like when she plays in the backyard and runs and screams and has tons of fun! It is such a joy to Jim and I to watch the kids have fun, esp at home running around in the yard. (We have always wanted a backyard for our kids to play in.)

Katie writes ILUVYOUMOMNDAD and other messages with the magnetic letters on the fridge. She is so sweet! I write back to her sometimes (WELOVEYOUKT or something like that). Katie used to make up the most beautiful and profound poems on the fridge when we had the magnetic words on there. I took them off a while ago...probably because they were within Makana's reach when she began to walk.

Li is really into different things. Wants to be "the best" at certain things. I love his determination.

Today Li caught a fish (wide mouth bass!!) at Alford Lake! It was his second time fishing and he was so excited he screamed out to me and Makana on the dock, "I caught a fish! I caught a fish! I caught a fish!" He handed Jim the pole and ran to tell Keely and Katie who were in the minivan. Wow! So cool how excited he was! Jim said he will always remember that moment!

Want to say many loving thoughts about Wolfie, but must take Makana up to bed. She is asking to be taken up.

Hike to Bald Mountain!

Early evening Jim, Li, Makana, and I hiked to Bald Mountain in Lincolnville. Katie opted to hang out at Keely's as she wasn't interested in hiking whatsoever.

(Ooooh, just felt the baby kick! To think I had been worried before about him/her not moving. Now he/she moves alot!)

Was a good hike - somewhat strenuous, some parts easy going, mostly very wide paths. A thunderstorm loomed in the distance almost the whole time we hiked. We noticed the approaching storm on the way there and heard the distant rumbling shortly after we began hiking. We thought the hike would be fairly short, so we decided to give it a go knowing we could always turn back if the weather seemed to get worse.

Well, the hike was a little longer than we thought. Makana noticed mushrooms and holes where creatures surely lived along the way. Li noticed that the path we were on was marked with blue paint and kept us on course. One rock was especially slippery as it was damp and mostly smooth.

When we finally arrived at the summit, we were above the fog layer coming in along the coast! It was really neat! Li was so excited and picked up more energy just before we got to the top! We could see Camden harbor and many islands lying east of the fog bank. The storm loomed toward our west and we took just a few photos and a quick video and went right down. It turned out that the storm went north of us, so we were fine. We were so glad we did this hike! And it was a nice workout for all of us too -although Makana got lots of piggy backs and rides much of the time..mostly on Jim. He's still "Packhorse Wolf," whether it is from carrying luggage, other things or children!! :) And I love him!

I Love You!

Makana has been going through a stage where she has been peeing wherever she is and not going to the potty. She also has been aggressive with the rest of the family and gets very mad. I bet this is some sort of growing phase. Ha...for her and us as we all have to learn to handle it the best way we can and Jim and I have to help brother and sister handle it while we maintain our own patience.

Well, outside today Makana had to pee, but for some reason didn't want to. She had begun to pee and said her pants were a little wet. I asked her if she was finished peeing and offered to get her another pair of shorts, take her to the potty or help her pee on the grass. She wasn't done, but didn't want to go on the inside potty or on the grass. She was upset and began to have a meltdown. She took off her shorts and crocs and peed by the edge of the woods and then laid down with just her shirt on in the backyard. Eventually she asked me to pick her up off the grass and take her upstairs to get a new pair of shorts. For whatever reason I sometimes have trouble maintaining MY patience when others get mad. But I was happy that I had kept calm while she went through her upsetness. Upstairs we went and she and I were both calm. She wanted me to carry her down the stairs too. I scooped her up and she hugged me and said just the very words I was feeling in my heart...she said, "I love you." Wow! Could she feel what I was thinking? I said that I loved her too and that I was so lucky to be with her and be her Mommy and that I just loved her so much! She looked at me and sincerely said, "But Daddy loves me more than you do." I began cracking up! She asked me why I was laughing and I said because she was being so honest with her feelings! And she is right...Daddy and she have a special bond and he does love her so much!! (But we both do!!)

Now that I think more on this, I think I laughed really because in the past what she said might have hurt my feelings. Why? Because once I told my Dad I loved him and kissed him up his arm and he pulled it away and told me "You don't love me!" in an upset voice. He then drove away. I felt so bad. I bet he did too as I had called my mom to come get me at Grandmas (where Dad and I were) while he was napping because I really wanted to be with her. I might have felt scared or lonely for her. Anyway, in the past I might have felt rejected by someone telling me that someone else loves them more, but I don't feel that way now. I can appreciate what people really feel and respect that. Wow! I have come a long way. At least for that moment. I felt happy that she just says what she feels with no baggage and it makes me feel I am doing a good job at helping her express her true feelings and to trust me enough to say what she feels. And I do know she loves me and knows I love her! And I love the bond that she and Jim share! :)
