A Look At Minivans

I LOVE my Subaru and don’t see myself in a minivan. It’s just not “me.” Jim feels the same way about them and considers himself a jeep guy (yes, we still have the same soft top 1990 jeep with all the stickers on it). Recently, Katie has been sending us links to various Dodge minivans on ebay and to Dodge websites. At her insistence, I have watched several video clips from the Dodge website (storage, capacity, “green” features, etc.). While we were out this past Tuesday, we stopped by a dealer to look at the minivans. The salesperson was totally comfortable with the kids’ energy and enthusiasm! They of course loved the van (31K) that had the swivel chairs, table and 2 dvd screens. Makana enjoyed buckling herself in the rear seats and had just as much fun as Li and Katie. Katie was interested in the built in technology (computers, cd players, dvd players, etc.) and pointed out how many of the minivan’s features worked which she learned from watching those video clips and reading the Dodge website. She could be a good salesperson! On our way home I asked Katie if she was interested in getting a minivan for the additional elbow room or if it was because she thought it was necessary in order to get a dog. (I had mentioned that we should probably get a bigger car if we get a dog.) She said it would be nice to have more room, but she really wanted one because she wanted a dog. So, there you go!

I am glad that we looked at the minivans after all, besides having fun it was good to sit in one and see what they’d be like with our family. They do afford more elbow room for sure, but the back area is smaller than I thought. I think a dog would actually have more room in the back of our Subaru! My thoughts on a different car….I’d like to pay off our credit card before considering a car payment. And, I suppose that we still could get a dog and keep our car. To give Katie more room, perhaps Li could use the Safe Sit instead of his booster seat. Ahhh….good to consider all the options! And perhaps we’ll think of more ideas to live with what we have now.
